Chrysotile and health

Chrysotile is a mineral of the serpentinite group, a species of asbestos (mountain flax). One of the richest deposits of chrysotile is Bazhenovskoe. Chrysotile from Bazhenovskoe deposit favorably differs in its natural properties and purity from mined in other deposits. Industrial complex "Uralasbest" develops the Bazhenovskoye deposit and produces chrysotile.


Over the past fifty years, the world's corporations that manufacture substitute materials for this mineral are misleading the public, reporting the harmfulness of asbestos, without distinguishing between its species. Although asbestos is a collective name for a group of minerals that are similar in properties but different in chemical composition.
