The "Uralasbest" Plant is known as the world's biggest producer of chrysotile asbestos. It is located on the eastern slope of the Ural ridge, in the middle of the mixed Ural taiga, 80 kilometers north-east from Ekaterinburg. The asbestos deposit was found in 1885, the first saleable tons of asbestos were mined in 1889.

The JSC "Uralasbest" presents an ultimately mechanized ore-mining and dressing enterprise utilizing up-to-date equipment.

The JSC "Uralasbest" comprises 19 plants and shops, among them the Mine Management, the Ore-Dressing Mill, the Repair and Mechanical Shop, the Cold-Lay Asphalt Concrete Plant.

The deposit of chrysotile asbestos is developed by an open way.

The opeh pit is 11.5 km long, 1.8 km wide and almost 300 m deep. The mine covers an overall area of 90 sq. km.

A body of ten thousand workers turns out over 500 thousand tons of chrysotile asbestos annually.

The Asbestos-Dressing Mill is an up-to-date highly-automated plant with a throughput capacity of 20 million tn ore per annum. The overall production facilities of the Asbestos-Dressing Mill cover 400,000 sq.m floor area. The volume of utilized process air is over 10 million cu.m per hour. The Mill has at its disposal 6,000 units of processing, transportation and crushing equipment.

The conditions of asbestos ores processing at the shops are selected proceeding from the requirements of maximum possible preservation of the natural length and strength of asbestos fibers.

Every year, the Plant adopts and works to implement the Quality Assurance Program destined to raise the technical level of asbestos production and improve its quality.

All Plant's products are covered by health safety certificates.

Over decades, the JSC "Uralasbest" has been maintaining successful trade and economic contacts with thousands of enterprises and companies. The Ural asbestos is exported to the countries of Europe, Asia, Africa, South America, the Pacific islands, CIS countries.
